about this collection:

dreamscapes in multi-media

I make abstract paintings that I call dreamscapes, using acrylic paint, ink, marker, pencil, pastels, found objects, adhesives and other texturizing materials, on canvas, paper, fiberboard, and other surfaces.  I often upcycle canvases by purchasing paintings from thrift stores, refurbishing the frames and re-using the canvases with a fresh coat of gesso. I use color and shapes to express emotions and curiosity, using ambiguity, symbolism, iconography and evocative imagery.

A little about my Background

Living in the Kansas City metro area, I’m retired from a career in a very left-brained industry (i.e. a desk job with spreadsheets).  I reckon I must be an Outsider Artist: with no formal training, I use all kinds of materials, I use cheap brushes (or my bare hands), recycled canvases, shiny or eye-catching objects that I pick up from the ground. I don’t even want to learn how to use AI and have no intention of using it for art. But I have a craving to make things now, and have plunged into painting to satisfy that. I hope you enjoy these paintings, and I wish you peace.
